About "First Stories"
"First Stories" is a writing project run by the library of The International School of Brussels and made possible by the support of the ISB Annual Fund. Over the past 6 years, the initiative has provided more than 60 ISB students in both Lower and Upper schools with the opportunity to publish their own books.
A jury selects the winners whose stories are illustrated by ISB IB Art students for CAS credit or contracted out to professional illustrators worldwide. The books, which are available across the ISB libraries, can also be found online, where extra print copies can be ordered at production cost.
Suli, Peter, and Yunji were some of the young authors who got to publish their stories this year.
“I believe it is a project worth pursuing since it connects our student writers and illustrators with a genuine real life experience.”
Wouter Laleman, Head of Digital Media and Libraries at ISB
The International School of Brussels is a private school founded in 1951 in Brussels for students grades Pre-K to 12. With over 1350 students from 70 countries, it is this diversity that sets us apart and makes ISB a wonderful home for our families.
